IN DEFENCE OF FASHOLA…

A respected Nigerian once told us that “If it’s money, Tinubu has a lot of it, but when it comes to politics, Tinubu can never be trusted”.

This came from one man I respect and I can never question his sense of judgment and disposition.

I’ve read a lot of commentaries in which many attributed the APC’s victory at the last polls and it wide acceptance in the North to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Many see him as the man who was able “to cross the Niger”, what Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo couldn’t achieve.

To some, he’s the Yoruba leader.

To some of us that knows the North and its politics, I will tell you that the non-notherners who played such role were Rotimi Chubuike Ameachi and Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Trust me, no northern politician or the common man on the streets of Northern Nigerian believes in Tinubu, their love was, and is still for Fashola.

Kano, Kaduna State, Niger, Jigawa, and Gombe states all sent representatives to Lagos state under Fashola’s leadership to get the template for good governance.

Fashola was the reference point of good governance to an avergage northerner, and they kept us saying “you Lagos should just give us Fashola for one year”. No one said “give us a Tinubu.

Now, for the APC (Lagos chapter) to turn around and attempt to rubbish Fashola is laughable, suicidal and I pity them… You’re cutting off your only relevance and shining star to the North.

Why did you think Buhari/Fashola ticket started from the North?

I don’t say things, or come up with things based on distant perception, I say these things cos I’m with these people, these are my people, I’ve spent more time in Northern Nigeria in the last 3 years than I have in South West..

The earlier they stop this, the better for them cos APC won’t have anything to offer beyond Buhari in 2015.

The truth be told, in Northern Nigeria, Fashola is more popular than Bola Tinubu and VP Yemi Osibajo..

My 10kobo advice…
